Frighten Mr. Milktoast

Was Halloween 2015 really a whole month ago??? Where does time go?! Even with the taste of Thanksgiving still in our mouths, and visions of xmas sugarplums dancing just on the horizon it's hard to bid farewell to the best holiday of them all for another whole year. I say it all the time over at my other blog, but it's certainly true-- "Everyday is Halloween" for some of us, but for others let me remind you with todays post of spooky fun highlights from the October 1960 issue of Humpty Dumpty's Magazine for Little Children. Please do your part to help keep those Halloween Hell fires burning bright all year long with games, songs, crafts, costumes, masks!!!, and general monster madness-- your neighborhood witches, ghosts, and black cats are counting on you!

Man I love Humpty Dumpty's! This is maybe my favorite Halloween cover art yet. And some of those activities are really interesting. You going to record the song and upload a video or what?

It's interesting that, even as far up as 1960, you could expect there was somebody in the family that could play piano, and had a piano!

man this is so neat! i love that harvest moon illustration next to the calendar - and the UNICEF reference. i really want to make the tipsy witch - that looks so cool!

and i love that kid in the picture story. he had one of those hilarious old jack-o-lantern costumes on that seem totally impossible to actually walk around in.

thanks for posting this!!

i like Myrtle, but my little CPC brain couldn't figure out how she was supposed to work :(

but now i think i get it. you cut around head and flip the body back and forth. or wait! you flip the mask back and forth! ok i get it. i was all - but if you flip the body to the right all you see are the masks around myrtles head! i'm a total dooface!

i like the mr. mustache mask too!
